• Our History

      • In June 1949, the late Ms. Helen Bridgewater, MBE, laid the foundation stone of the Charlestown Secondary School.  On 24th May, 1950, the newly built school was officially opened.  It started with one hundred and seventy (170) students and ten (10) members of staff. 

        The Nevis Sixth Form College was established at the school on 13th October, 1980.  The British Development Division (BDD) funded the Sixth Form Building which was officially commissioned by Her Highness, Princess Margaret on 19th September, 1983 on the occasion of Independence of St, Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis.

        In 1991, the Technical & Vocational Centre also called the Multi-Purpose Centre was established and its first Supervisor was the late James T. Neale.

        The New Wing was funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and equipped by the World Bank and Nevis Multi-Line Services was officially opened on 2ndNovember, 2007.

        The school’s motto is ‘INDUSTRIA ET VIRTUTE’.

         The Crest is accepted as a part of the uniform.  It must be sewn onto the left pocket of shirts and blouses and the left side of tunics.
